Global Secure Accreditation welcomes Lee Whiteing as Commercial Director

London, 29 February: Global Secure Accreditation (GSA), the global leaders in hotel security accreditation, have today announced that Lee Whiteing will join as Commercial Director on 1 April.

As businesses plan a return to travel, the focus is very much on traveller wellbeing, of which safety and security form a vital foundation. The ISO 31030 Travel Risk Management Standard is due to be published this summer and it will establish clear guidelines on what Duty of Care should look like in the area of business travel. In his new role, Lee will engage with corporate travel teams and suppliers to ensure traveller safety and security are baked into their programmes and priorities.

Lee was most recently Head of Global Travel Operations for HSBC, having fulfilled a number of roles in a 27-year career with the bank through its various transformations. While heading up travel operations, Lee oversaw the consolidation of travel agencies servicing HSBC’s travel requirements globally from 23 to two, and managed their global travel policy, creating a customer-first ethos that created high levels of traveller satisfaction.

David Wood, GSA’s Chief Executive Officer said, “Lee was a strong advocate of independent security accreditation for hotels in his previous role with HSBC, so we are thrilled that he is joining the team with his deep knowledge of the travel management sector and commitment to putting travellers first.”

”Having operated large scale and complex global travel programmes and been responsible for thousands of travellers, I understand first-hand the travel manager’s challenge to assess and manage risk across hundreds of destinations worldwide,” Lee shared “Independent security accreditation for hotels and accommodation providers is a huge step forward in our industry and has never been more important. That’s why I’m so excited to join GSA.”
