15 Sep GSA and PwC share joint honours at Business Travel People Awards
Corporate travel experts from across the industry gathered at The Leonardo Royal London City hotel to celebrate the sector and learn the winners of The Business Travel People Awards.
Celebrating the best in corporate travel
Our commercial director Lee Whiteing was in attendance, partly as a judge and because GSA had been shortlisted in a new category of award for 2022: the Duty of Care Initiative. Lee was unable to be a judge in the category we were applying for, of course!
Duty of care to the forefront
The Business Travel People Awards was recognising – for the first time – the importance of corporates creating and delivering meaningful Duty-of-Care initiatives for travelling employees, demonstrating the increasing importance following the publication of the global ISO 31030 standard for travel risk management in late 2021. The standard codifies the responsibilities of employers to travelling employees and marks an important milestone in corporate travel.
One of the early corporate adopters of the standard was PwC in London. We worked with the company to ensure PwC was compliant with the standard and that all its policies and procedures were in place to ensure employees were protected from risk when travelling for business. By demonstrating compliance, PwC ensures corporate travellers are safe and that – were anything untoward to happen to an employee on a business trip – the company has taken the necessary steps to mitigate risk. Our joint initiative with PwC to demonstrate compliance with the standard formed the basis of our shortlisted entry.
A winning formula
PwC and GSA managed to scoop the Duty of Care Initiative of the Year award, after the judges were impressed by PwC’s commitment to its employees’ safety and our initiatives to help corporates demonstrate compliance with the standard. This topped off a memorable night and showed just how far the industry has come in light of the new challenges posed by ISO 31030.
